  • Terms and Conditions:

    Please note:

    1. Both the forest and savannah camps must be shared by two hunters. Each hunter will have his separate PH and will hunt in separate areas each day.
    2. The trophy fees are paid at the end of the Safari and must be paid ( without exception ) in EURO cash. If the client bring traveller checks, there will be a 8% extra charge in top of the total amount.
    3. The air charter is approximately 13/4 hour flight to the forest and return. In order to get the charter cost at the redacted rate, it is necessary to have set departure dates where the two incoming clients share the charter with the two outgoing clients. If a client chooses to return home early, then he must pay extra for the charter to come to the forest area and pick him up.
    4. Observer who accompanies the hunter to the forest area will not have to pay a charter fee as long as their presence does not cause a need for a larger plane.
    5. At times, and due to charter plane schedules, it is possible to connect immediately from your International flight and it might be necessary to plan for a few hours stay in Douala before take off for camp. In case the client wishes to leave the airport for the city, all resulting costs are not included like taxicabs, dayrooms, food and beverages, etc., we suggest having a reasonable amount of EURO at hand, as U.S. funds are not readily accepted.

    Additional information

Ngong Safaris was founded by Danish born professional hunter Børge Ladefoged in 1991, and is still owned and run by him personally. The hunts take place in two different concessions, depending on the game wanted.

    Hunting in the Savannah

For the savannah species you will hunt in the northern camp, situated near the village of Ngong -which by some strange coincidence bears the same name as the mountain range in Kenya, at the foot of which Mr. Ladefoged's famous countryman Karen Blixen had her farm.
Hunting here is done the traditional African way with departure at daybreak and driving into the part of the concession where the game wanted is most likely to be found. When a fresh spoor is found, the hunters start tracking. The terrain is not mountainous and does not require more than an average physical condition – but at the start of the safari some hunters have problems with the heat. Normally the hunters return at noon for a brunch and hunt again in the late afternoon, but occasionally the hunters will go on all day if they are close to a good trophy animal like a Giant Eland.

    Hunting in the Rainforest

We have now 2 areas in the Rainforest - total 99.500 ha. You will hunt the forest species from our southern camp. The hunting techniques are more differentiated down here. Dogs are used to put the Bongos at bay in the dense jungle. Hunting bongo begins after a recent rainfall, which makes the antelopes move out in the open, where fresh tracks can be discovered with comparative ease. After finding a fresh spoor, the pygmy trackers begin their work and take you into the dense jungle, and not until the accompanying dogs actually see the bongo will they take up pursuit and put the bongo at bay. You then carefully stalk the bongo and shoot at very close range. Elephants are hunted the same way but without dogs. Most other game is shot from high seats at clearings (jungle savannahs), or in the case of Duikers – by calling.
You should be able to walk for several hours, but it is not overly physically demanding to hunt in the Rainforest.
