    Deer Stalking in Scotland

Woodmill Shootings provides tailor made sporting breaks for people who enjoy shooting and deer stalking in Scotland. We offer stalking for all 4 Scottish species of deer (roe, red, fallow & sika deer) over some 35,000 acres of Scotland.

Stalking is for 4 or 5 days where guests can arrive any time after lunch on Monday, but must depart by Friday afternoon. Whenever you stalk with us, you will be fully accompanied at all times by one of our team of experienced stalkers.

We accommodate between 2 and 4 hunters at a time. As well as holidays for experienced hunters, we also offer beginners courses for those who wish to learn about deer stalking.

Whatever type of holiday you choose, we offer you exceptional hospitality while you stay in our Scottish country, Woodmill House. This will be your base when you are here to hunt deer.

    General Information:

Woodmill stalkers all use .243 rifles which are available for your use, but obviously only when accompanied by the owner. We have a rifle range next to the house that you can use and practise on at will.

    Brand and caliber of guns:

  • 243
  • Necessary documents for import of guns into the country:

Scottish Visitors Firearms Pass (for non-UK residents)

This we can do for you, but you must send your original European Firearms Pass for EU citizens or your firearms license from your own country. The procedure takes up to 6 weeks.

We are able to access all heads to CIC standard here at Woodmill, but those that appear to be in the gold category will remain here for official measuring so they may be recorded as shot in Scotland. Official measuring is done by a certified CIC assessor which takes place 90 days after the animal was shot - this allows sufficient time for thorough drying out of the trophy.

You will be told if your deer has achieved a gold, silver or bronze award. Assessed trophies will be sent to the owner with the correct paperwork and the invoice. It is of great interest to the deer management of Scotland that the details of the trophies are registered in Scotland before they are forwarded to you.
